These terms apply to Clean SMS (the "App"), an SMS app for Android made by Praveen Puglia (the "Developer"). By installing or using the App you agree to them. How the App handles your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
The App is free. Its source code is public on GitHub. The Developer may change the App, or stop offering it, at any time.
To work, the App needs to be your default SMS app, which means it receives, sends and stores all of your SMS. You can switch to another SMS app at any time in Android's settings; your messages stay on your phone.
Message categories, OTP detection, spam labels and sender logos are worked out automatically on your phone and can be wrong. Check the full message, and who sent it, before you act on it, especially before using an OTP.
Messages you delete, and OTPs deleted by the optional "Delete OTPs automatically" setting, are removed from your phone and cannot be recovered by the App. Automatic deletion is off until you turn it on, and starred OTPs are always kept.
When you report a message, the App sends the complaint SMS to 1909 from your SIM, in your name. You are responsible for what you report. Complaints are handled by your mobile operator and TRAI; the Developer is not involved in them.
All brand names, logos and trademarks shown in the App belong to their respective owners. They are used only to identify the sender of a message and do not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by those companies. A logo is shown only when the sender's header is registered to that company in India's DLT registry.
Rights holders can request removal of a logo by writing to praveenpuglia+playstore@gmail.com. Requests are handled promptly.
The App is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, the Developer is not liable for any loss arising from using the App, including missed, delayed or deleted messages.
These terms are governed by the laws of India.
If these terms change, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
